Katie & Michael's DIY Boho Wedding in Byron Bay

Katie & Michael were married back in 2018, it was such a memorable day that I (Dani) had the pleasure of being a guest at, whilst Ludo ran around doing what he loves most, being behind the camera capturing the day as it unfolds!

The wedding was held in the gorgeous surrounds of Ewingsdale, very close to Byron Bay at Ewingsdale Hall. The hall and grounds were a blank canvas, perfect for the DIY wedding Katie & Michael were planning. With the help of loved ones they managed to give the space an incredibly beautiful Boho feel, complete with a home made bar, lawn games, fairy lights and wood fired pizza.

An absolute highlight of the day was the first, ‘first look’! Katie had asked Michael’s best mate Marcel to dress up in a wedding dress which she found at St Vincent De Paul and walk up, in place of her and tap Michael on the shoulder. He turned around expecting to see his beautiful bride and instead saw Marcel, his reaction was priceless. Scroll through the photos below to see this for yourself! This was such a fabulous way the calm both the bride and grooms nerves before the real first look! As you can imagine Michael’s reaction to seeing the gorgeous Katie for the first time was so special. A time filled with the happy tears of awe, love and excitement!

The fun continued on with the bridal portraits, followed a by ceremony, into a night of games, laughter, drinks and dancing! It’s a wedding none of us will ever forget!
